Let’s start the show with some good biddings; Chelsea from Vampire Book Club have joined forces with various publisher houses to bring a series of special auctions called Books Fighting Cancer Charity Auctions. So what is it about? Well, as the name suggests you bid on books, but not just any book, you bid on packages of books from some of the best known Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy authors. The proceeds will go to Barrow Neurological Institute. Head over to Vampire Book Club for more information on the auctions. Hello again my amazing followers, I know I’m late for this post. It wasn’t intentionally; I was on a borrowed PC during the entire weekend so I couldn’t do it on time. Today’s post covers news from Sunday June 3, 2012 until Saturday June 9, 2012; So let’s get down to business.

Richelle Mead, BEA, E3, eReader, Fifty Shades, Batman, True Blood, Stephen Kind’s IT, Giveaway, Jeaniene Frost, and Magic Mike.

Richelle Mead has released the first two chapters for her upcoming book The Golden Lily, book #2 in her Bloodlines series. Drop by her website to read both chapters back to back. The Golden Lily hit stands this Tuesday June 12, 2012.

Since I’m speaking of YA books, RT Books Reviews did an article on one of BookExpo America’s (BEA) panel: The Evolution of the Young Adult Genre. The panel included authors Bethany Griffin, Jenny Han, Tonya Hurley, Melissa Marr, Elizabeth Norris and Siobhan Vivian. Drop by their blog to read the panel’s summary.

BEA wasn’t the only convention taking place during this past week. E3, one of the largest gaming expositions, was also amassing people from all over the world. For a recap of the week’s events head over to IGN to watch the most important aspects of the Expo in around 15 minutes.

Welcome back my amazing followers and lurkers, today I have for you the 9th installment of my weekly Books in News. This weeks news are less than normal so this post should be shorter than the previous ones. Today’s post collects news of the week between Sunday May 27, 2012 and Saturday June 2, 2012.

Today we have news about:

Real Mermaids, The Hollows TV Show, Once Burned, The Host, a young Writer, Les Miserables, and a killer marriage proposal.

Let’s begin this post with something not entirely related to books but that nonetheless is quite a shocker. Tell me something, what is your take on Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid? If I were to tell you that mermaids are real and that they are just another evolutionary branch from the apes, just like humans are, would you believe me? Would you believe it if it came from a widely recognize entity? What if either I or said entity claimed to have scientific proof, would you believe it then? Well, it seems like the Animal Planet, one of the TV channels distributed by Discovery Communications (Wikipedia), certainly wants us to believe it’s not just a possibility but a reality. Think I’m kidding? That I’ve somehow lost my wits? Possibly, but hey, I wasn’t the one who did an entire documentary based on unsubstantial evidence. So no, I’m not joking, Animal Planet televised last Sunday May 27th, 2012 a documentary called Mermaids: The Body Found as part of their Monster Week. It basically tries to convince you that mermaids are real. But there is always the other side of every coin, and there is plenty of people calling the show a mockumentary. Still think I’m not serious? Well, why don’t you watch the documentary yourself? I found this video on YouTube, it seems to be the full documentary (haven’t finished it yet, I’m writing this before it’s too late). Be warned, the video’s length is 1 hour, 28 minutes and it’s mostly CGI. Watch it, make up your own mind and write your thoughts on the comments section below; enjoy!

Welcome back my amazing followers and lurkers, today is Books in News #8, your weekly fix of all things written and other related matters.

Let’s begin this round with positive news. The comic books fever has never truly receded. Each year we see announcements of any given attempt at reinventing the genre and bring it forth to a new generation. Although I don’t personally read comic books, not currently anyways, I have grown loving them and respect the various forms of empowerment that they inspire. So this particular bit of news brought a smile to my face when I read it, and still does. Being a comic book fan has no age, gender, or even nationality, it has become a multicultural phenomenon. So it’s really no surprise that little kids want to emulate their favorite powerful and cool characters. So is the case of Anthony Smith, a 4-year-old who refused to wear a hearing aid because superheroes do not wear them. This kid’s parents contacted none other than Marvel, asking whether or not there was a superhero that had some extra help. Marvel replied that yes, Hawkeye had used a hearing aid before his hearing was restored. However, in true superhero fashion, Marvel went above and beyond and created a completely new super called Blue Ear, a hero that can rescue the innocent bystanders thanks to his hearing aid. Inspire kids’ dreams and help them realize that they are incredible no matter what, now that is what I call Super!

Welcome to the 7th installment of Books in News. Today’s news are from the week between Sunday May 13, 2012 and Saturday May 19, 2012.

Let’s begin with some TV news, the CW has officially canceled two of its new series, The Ringer and Secret Circle, while renewing Hart of Dixie and ANTM. Now, I actually like (and might be one of the apparent few by the sounds of the fans) Hart of Dixie, but I think that ANTM has run its course, but that is just me.

In book news, a study suggests that you are what you read, yup, just like you read it. According to a new study published at the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, connecting with our favorite characters might, unconsciously, make us replicate their actions and belief systems in real life. Apparently those who read books with good protagonists do more good actions, while those who read books with evil protagonists (say, a serial killer) are more inclined to justify the character’s actions. It's an interesting concept, I guess the same can also be argued about TV programs and movies.

Hello my amazing followers and lurkers and welcome to another edition of Books in News. Like I mentioned in last week’s meme, May is a pretty busy academic month for me so today’s meme will be on the short side. Sorry for that, I’ll try to make it up on future posts.

If you are a Jeaniene Frost fan you most know by now that a new spin-off series of the Night Huntress will hit stands next month. The new series, called Night Prince, will feature the always funny, hot, Romanian vampire Vlad Tepesh and his Leila, his love interest. Well, reviews from the ARCs of the first book, Once Burned are popping up in various blogs, among them, author Charlaine Harris added her two cents to what I know will soon turn into an avalanche of reviews. Another post and giveaway of the book is being currently hosted by Vampire Book Club.

Now let’s move on from vampires to witches. Kim Harrison’s next installment on The Hollows series has a new publication date. Lately the books have been published on February of each year, but not the next book. Ever-After, the next book about Rachel Morgan and her journey is expected to hit stands on January 22, 2013.

And in news of another of my favorite authors, the next book on the Fever Series, Iced: A Dani O’Malley Novel, is already available for pre-order. Check your favorite buying spot for the book. In the meantime here are the links to Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

First of all let me apologized for last week’s miss. May is the end of the road for the academic year and this is the month that we are stretched thin by the professors. Last weekend I was so overwhelmed by work that I didn’t had a chance to even look for some news.

Now, while searching this week I did come across some of the news from the previous week so I’ll incorporate them on this post; a two in one sort of post, please bear with me.

Let’s start the mega post with the previous week, the one between Sunday April 22, 2012 and Saturday April 28, 2012.

Exclusive content from the next installment in the Mortal Instruments series has been and will continue to be posted on Mundie Moms, one of the main go to blogs when it comes to all things TMI. The series of posts are called City of Lost Souls Celebration and they will continue until May 7, 2012. The posts will include deleted scenes, press release, snippets, and more.

In Hunger Games news, Catching Fire has begun its pre-production process, while the DVD (and I’m assuming Blu-Ray) release can be expected to hit stands around 5 months after the movie’s theatrical release day. Since they movie came out on March, we should be expecting it by the end of August. Meanwhile, the newspaper The Guardian did an article on “the woman behind the phenomenon” and her lack of public appearances.

Welcome back again my amazing followers and lurkers. I ended up posting this week’s wrap-up a bit later than I wanted, but here it finally is. Here are the news that took center stage in between Sunday April 15, 2012 and Saturday April 21, 2012.

So on Monday Karen Marie Moning posted on her Facebook Page that she will do a one-quote-a-day type of mini event in celebration of Into the Dreaming hitting shelves on April 24, 2012. If you want to catch up with them head over to my Into the Dreaming Teaser Post.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday we were treated to the official book trailer for City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare; judging by the trailer seems like this time we are going to hear more from Sebastian’s POV; I have to say, the trailer is a bit creepy.





If you wanted to watch the movie Underworld: Awakening at the theater, but for some reason you couldn’t, fret not, the Blu-ray and DVD will be hitting shelves on May 8, 2012.

Speaking of vampires, Julie Kagawa’s new series, Blood of Eden Series, has been sold to Palomar Pictures and it all points out that the first book, The Immortal Rules, will be getting the Hollywood treatment and will be turned into a movie.

Hello my amazing followers and lurkers, belated Happy Easter and Passover and my most sincere Congratulations to all librarians on this past week; National Library Week.
Today’s meme collects news for the week between Saturday, April 7, 2012 and Friday, April 13, 2012. And what a busy week this one has been.

I know today’s post is a bit long but stick with it; there are some interesting news (and some infuriating ones) coming up. If you’d like to skip most of the regular news, please search for the eBook news near the end. I want as much people knowing about this as possible.

Let’s kick things off with The Hunger Games News. There’s been a back and forth about the movie sequel and whether or not director Gary Ross will continue and work on Catching Fire. Some say that he was negotiating with the studio. But in the end it was not meant to be, and it is official; Catching Fire is looking for a new director. Regardless of this, The Hunger Games has continued to do amazingly at the box office, passing the $300 million mark; remaining in the number 1 spot.

But apparently driving throngs of teenagers to discover the wonderful world of books isn’t enough for some people. Some parents want to ban the Hunger Games Trilogy from schools and libraries; both book and movie shelves. I don’t understand how could they find the books to be satanic but apparently they do. Like everything that attracts the masses, various spoofs and satirical videos have sprung on YouTube; this one is just a taste of what people are laughing about:






Now, in case you heard/read the rumors that Jamie Campbell-Bower had bowed out from The Mortal Instruments, rest assure that he is very much so still on board (whether we like it or not). Cassandra Clare has confirmed it on her website in a post titled “Jamie is Jace”.

Speaking of movie magic; did you know that they were making a movie about one of the top fairytale evil characters? They are! And not only have they chosen an Evil Queen capable of turning into a dragon, they have cast Angelina Jolie to play her role. Maleficent is a re-tale of the classic Sleeping Beauty from the Mistress of All Evil’s perspective and will be hitting theaters near you on March 14, 2014.

Seems official enough, the next book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood will feature Qhuinn and Blay and hopefully their long (and I mean loooooooooooong) awaited Happily Ever After.

Ilona Andrews (celebrating April's Fools Day) decided to play a little joke to their fan base. Looks like they are no longer going to write Urban Fantasy.

Monday (April 2, 2012)

The official trailer of the movie Total Recall made its online debut and boy does it looks good!!

Hello my dear followers and lurkers, how's everyone doing lately? I’ve been busy with college, work and the release of Lover Reborn ^.^ Had to read it. So naturally, I missed a couple of news that have been doing the rounds this past week.

As a consequence, I have decided to start my very own meme. A specific post that will cover the latest news in book related matters. So far I'll be doing it for myself, but if other bloggers are interested in joining in let me know in the comments below and I'll make a grab box for it and post intructions ^.^

Now, to the matter of the post itself, the news.

Are you a fan of the Fifty Shades Trilogy by E.L. James? If so, you may be pleased (or outraged, depending on your stance) to know that Fifty Shades of Gray is heading to the big screen. On Monday, March 26, 2012 it was announced that Universal Studios will be the one in charge of bringing this BDSM story to Hollywood thanks to a rumored whooping $5 million. I haven’t read the books yet, but I have read a lot of rave reviews and there are plenty of friends who recommend the series so I plan to give it a try at some point down the road. The question remains; will you see the movie?
